Sherlock Holmes and the Sussex Sea-Devils is a mystery novel by James Lovegrove. It is a Sherlock Holmes pastiche that involves H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. It is the third and final book in The Cthulhu Casebooks trilogy following Sherlock Holmes and the Shadwell Shadows and Sherlock Holmes and the Miskatonic Monstrosities.

Trying to merge mystery and mythos themes into a novel is much more difficult than you would think. A mythos story typically involves considerable investigation but it is a different type than a mystery. Especially one in the vein of a Sherlock Holmes story.

Lovegrove has worked, over the course of this trilogy, at how to best serve both types of story and it really does succeed in this final book. It truly does have everything that you would expect from both type of story and the transition from one to another is well done.

A satisfying ending for the trilogy and a fun read.
